Mike is credited with co-producing Track 3 - "Downwind". I'd be
astounded if he were not playing on it. The specific credits are:
"Produced by Pierre Moerlen with Nick Bradford. Track 3 Produced by
Pierre Moerlen with Mike Oldfield" and
"Featuring: Mike Oldfield, Mick Taylor, Steve Winwood and Didier Lockwood"
I'll bring my copy to the mini-con. We have at least fifteen people
coming now, with a few of my local friends still to confirm probable
final numbers are 20-30.
Based on the feedback, I'll need to supply:
- Good red wine from the Barossa (easily done)
- Beer (I brew Weizen and bitter so easily done too)
- Cheese (the market should help)
- The Smell of a Westerly Breeze (hmmm, more difficult)
- I can't guarantee we'll be on horseback, but if I can find them, I'll
bring the photos of the get-together on Hergest Ridge, of which Mike
claims by hearsay that we "danced naked in the moonlight". Hmmm, don't
remember that. Must have been a good night. I only remember the curry
in Hereford.
Regards
Matthew

As I recall the sleeve notes on my vinyl copy of Downwind, Mike plays
electric guitar and bass guitar on the middle section only. The track
has 3 sections, and you can quite clearly hear when Mike's guitar and
bass come in, which dominate the middle section. Recorded at around
the time of Incantations, his melodic bmm bmm bmm bmm bass playing is
instantly recognisable, and it couldnt be anyone else on lead guitar.
